A FEW OF OUR RECENT SETTLEMENTS AND VERDICTS

On February 4, 2025, Joseph F. Sullivan of Sullivan & Brill, LLP obtained a $400,000 settlement on behalf of a client that injured his lower back when he was rear-ended by another vehicle in Brooklyn, New York in March of 2019. The client had stopped to allow a firetruck to pass when he was rear-ended by another driver. The client did go to the hospital after the incident and did not see treatment until one week later after the pain in his lower back did not subside. He received chiropractic care and physical therapy for six months after the car accident. During that time, he was referred for an MRI of his lumbar spine and was diagnosed with a herniated L5-S1 intervertebral disc. In addition to the chiropractic and physical therapy treatments, he received two epidural steroid injections to his lower back. In the following two and half years, he continued to have pain that came and went and he sought treatment from an acupuncturist for relief. The treatments only gave him temporary relief, so in June of 2024, he underwent discectomy and foraminotomy of the L5-S1 disc, a procedure where the extruded portion of the damaged disc is removed endoscopically.
